On Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, the University Speaker Series will host the debate Campus Under Fire, featuring Colin Goddard and David Burnett.
Goddard survived four gunshot wounds during the Virginia Tech shooting in 2007. He currently works for The Campaign to Keep Guns Off Campus and The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.
Burnett is the director of public relations for Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, a national, non-partisan, grassroots organization composed of more than 43,000 college students, professors, college employees, parents of college students and concerned citizens. The group believes that holders of state-issued concealed handgun licenses should be allowed the same measure of personal protection on college campuses that current laws afford them virtually everywhere else.
The debate will be held in the Reeve Memorial Union Ballroom (227) starting at 7 p.m. There will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions and interact with Goddard and Burnett. The event is free for UW Oshkosh students with a Titan ID and $3 for non-students.
