On Saturday, Nov. 22, A&W, 2187 W. 9th Ave., will share 10 percent of its sales made between 5 and 8 p.m. with UW Oshkosh’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter. The money raised will go towards the chapter’s efforts in promoting community and campus events in Oshkosh throughout the school year.
PRSSA uses events like Share Night to fund projects throughout the Oshkosh community as well as at national competitions. In 2007 and 2008, UW Oshkosh’s PRSSA has taken first place National Organ Donor Awareness Competition. Funding events like Share Night helps PRSSA purchase necessary resources that contribute to the chapter’s success in competition.
A&W opened its doors in Oshkosh in April 2008. The restaurant is one of many being opened in the franchises’ desire to compete with other restaurants in the Midwest like McDonalds and Culvers. An A&W also opened in Neenah on Monday Nov. 10. Both locations will be open year-round.
“We’re seeing a lot of new A&W’s around,” said Ashley Colburn, an A&W shift manager. “In Wisconsin, there are openings in Little Chute, Menasha, Manitowoc and Calumet County.”
