The Alternative Spring Break group at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh will camp out for three nights to raise awareness for Hurricane Katrina victims.

The “Tent Event” will be held in the NBC Quad between the Reeve Memorial Union and Breese Residence Hall Nov. 10-12. Students will be camping out each of those nights.

The group, sponsored by Reeve Memorial Union and the Department of Residence Life, consists of two UW Oshkosh advisers and 18  students, who will volunteer at Back Bay Mission in Biloxi, Miss., March 21-28 to help rebuild homes affected by Hurricane Katrina. Work to be done includes landscaping, painting, constructing houses and assisting in clean-up efforts.

The “Tent Event” is an opportunity for the volunteers to experience the conditions to which many people of Biloxi have become accustomed. The volunteers, who are responsible for funding the costs of their trip, will collect donations to camp outside.

To make a donation for the “Tent Event,” visit http://reeve.uwosh.edu/asb or mail donations to Reeve Memorial Union – 104, c/o Mike Lueder, 748 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh, WI 54901. All donations must be received by Friday, Dec. 12.
