UWO’s 12th chancellor who began his role July 1,  Singh shared remarks about UW-Oshkosh’s successful efforts to strengthen enrollment, develop of more responsive, futuristic academic programs and continue to partner with community organizations.

“Education is critical to Oshkosh’s growth, and it was outstanding to have two of our K-12 and higher education leaders sharing a very unified vision at a Lunch & Lead,” Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Rob Kleman said. “The Chamber will continue to be a strong partner with every educational provider in the community.”

 

Chancellor Singh spoke to Lunch and Lead guests about the personal and collective power of education to transform, sharing his family’s and his own journey. He emphasized the value of education to a community like Oshkosh, both economically and fundamentally.

“It builds communities that are more peaceful, harmonious, more prosperous, more tolerant,” he said.

Chancellor Singh also outlined many of the UWO initiatives to develop new, responsive academic programs and channel diverse faculty member’s scholarship and expertise into a new taskforce examining artificial intelligence (A.I.).

“What we are doing right now is pushing the boundaries of discovery to the maximum possible,” Singh said.

The Lunch and Lead appearance follows release of preliminary fall 2025 UWO enrollment figures reflecting strength and growth across several student populations as UWO welcomes nearly 12,500 Titans on campus, throughout Wisconsin and beyond.

UWO estimates also show year-over-year increases in:

• Honors College enrollment – up 2% after a record year of growth in 2024-25.
• Transfer student enrollment – up 4%
• New graduate student enrollment – up 17%
• First-year student retention – up 4%
• The first-year class on the Oshkosh campus – up 2%
