University of Wisconsin—Oshkosh employee Mary Manchester has been honored with a STAR Award for superior effort in duties and for her dedication.
STAR Awards are intended to recognize and thank University Staff members, limited-term employees and project appointment employees who go above and beyond their normal job description. The nomination form is available here.

‘Exceptional contributions’
Manchester, administrative assistant in the College of Nursing, was nominated by Dean Seon Yoon Chung, for the May 2025 award:
“Mary Manchester has demonstrated exceptional dedication and contributions to the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh (UWO) College of Nursing, making her a deserving candidate for the UWO STAR award. Mary has played a significant role in coordinating and supporting various events and initiatives within the College of Nursing. For instance, she was instrumental in organizing the Nightingale Awards event, which recognizes and celebrates nursing excellence. This includes creating and sending invitations for the event, soliciting and organizing award nominations, getting plaques for awardees, creating individual videos for each of the nominees and awardees, managing the event on the day of. Additionally, she has gone above and beyond to fulfill a wide range of duties as assigned, with excellence. Her work on various projects includes creating social media posts, end-of-the-year digital video cards, designing mailers, and videos for the Day of Giving. She also manages social media accounts, takes photos, and creates marketing and communication materials in collaboration with the UWO marketing team and communications office. Furthermore, she has been proactive in learning (about) and updating CON websites in preparation for accreditation site visits and compiling and extracting information from reports. She has also been learning how to leverage AI to promote efficiency in repetitive administrative work.
Mary Manchester’s consistent efforts and dedication to continuous improvement and contribution to the institution make her a strong candidate for the UWO STAR award and deserves to be recognized for her outstanding work.”
