Rob Gordon, a custodian in the department of custodial services, is recipient of the January 2025 STAR Award at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Gordon, who is supervised by Vicki Stadler, was nominated by Julia Hodgen, an executive assistant at the University.

Rob takes such good care of Dempsey and makes sure everyone has everything they need. He keeps the building so clean and is extremely friendly and understanding. You can tell when Rob is out (and he usually lets us know that he will be) because the building just isn’t as clean.

Hodgen said Gordon worked tirelessly during his annual deep clean of the office to remove a stubborn stain on the carpet.

“I have never seen a custodian clean at the level that Rob does,” she said. “When the outside vendor was cleaning the outside of the windows, Rob made sure to clean the screens and the inside of the windows (and they look so great).

“Recently, we had a weird odor that was spreading throughout Dempsey. No one could figure out what the issue is. Well, Rob figured out the source (which was a closet) and figured out the issue (something wasn’t working correctly).”

Hodgen concluded by saying Gordon is “friendly, hardworking and just an overall wonderful person and employee. We are so very grateful for him and all of the work he does to make Dempsey look at clean as possible!”
