Nearly 1,400 undergraduate and graduate students will be honored for their academic success at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh spring commencement ceremonies next week. The University community, along with friends and family members, will be on hand to celebrate UWO’s newest alumni.

Here’s the rundown for those planning to attend in person or watch online.

What: UW Oshkosh’s 149h spring commencement ceremonies

When: Saturday, May 13

  • Morning ceremony begins at 9 a.m.
  • Afternoon ceremony begins at 2 p.m.

Where: Kolf Sports Center, 785 High Ave.

Noteworthy: Provost John Koker, who first joined UWO as a faculty member in the mathematics department in 1991, will offer remarks as the faculty speaker at both ceremonies. He is presiding over his final commencement at UWO as he retires this summer.

Student speakers:

  • Cory Sparks, of Pleasant Prairie, will offer remarks at the morning ceremony. He graduates with a bachelor’s degree in radio TV film, a minor in multimedia journalism and a certificate in social media.
  • Breana Vander Wielen, of Kimberly, will offer remarks at the afternoon ceremony. She graduates with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, majoring in accounting and human resource management.

Class of 2023 stats: A total of 1,343 students are expected to earn degrees this spring. Candidates for graduation include 60 doctoral, 170 master’s degree, 1,002 bachelor’s degree and 111 associates degree students.
