Beverly Flanigan, student records operations manager, has been named the recipient of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh STAR Award for May 2011. Debbie Sarna, of the Registrar’s Office, nominated her. Portions of the nomination letter follow:

“Beverly is an extremely dedicated, detail oriented and valued employee. She always takes time to explain the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of all processes, and she cares about the reputation of our institution. This is not ‘just a job’ for her.

“Her knowledge of past and present University policies is invaluable. I sincerely believe we would not be as efficient as we are without her expertise.

“She implemented the Advanced Registration Certificate through the National Student Clearinghouse which provides students with an Enrollment Certificate verifying to health insurance providers, lenders, and scholarship organizations that they are currently enrolled students.

“Bev also has played an important role in initiating ‘online grading’ and is currently gathering information to execute an ‘online change of grade’ process for the instructors. Beverly is also a ‘think out of the box’ person.”

Winners of the STAR Award receive a framed certificate, a reserved parking space for one month and a gift from University Books & More. The award for exceptional performance is presented each month to a member of the classified staff who has worked at least six months at UW Oshkosh.

The CSAC Awards & Recognition Committee submitted this announcement. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
