The State Building Commission presented the 2010 Design and Construction Awards for state facilities on April 20, with the award for Excellence in Sustainable Design going to KEE Architecture, of Madison, for their Elmwood Center remodel at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

“UW Oshkosh has emerged as a state-wide model and leader in sustainability campus design,” said Rep. Gordon Hintz, member of the Building Commission. “This project took an outdated and inefficient 1960s dining hall and turned it into an energy efficient modern building. This building incorporates some incredible features, such as geothermal heating and cooling and uses 38 percent less energy than a code-designed building.”

The Student Success Center will be certified by the U.S. Green Building Council at the Silver Level.

Rep. Gordon Hintz submitted this announcement. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
