Among the 10 University of Wisconsin Oshkosh students attending the annual American Multicultural Student Leadership Conference (AMSLC) held at UW-Platteville April 1-3, six students submitted original work with four accepted for presentation.
Presentation honors went to:
- Janice Thor – Research/poster presentation on General Vang Pao;
- Mao Vang – Original artwork (mixed media);
- Bryan Moua – poetry; and
- Gabrielle DuBois – original artwork (mixed media) with highest honors (chosen as one out of four qualifying students from all submissions).
Two other students, Daniel Hodgson and Tyra McFarland, also submitted poetry and artwork, respectively.
There were 200 multicultural students from all UW System campuses across the state who attended AMSLC. The conference has been in existence for 28 years and is a hallmark of multicultural student achievement and leadership.
UW Oshkosh hosted the 25th annual AMSLC in 2008, supported and sponsored by the Center for Academic Support & Diversity (CASD).
Ann Oliver Lepore, Center for Academic Support & Diversity, submitted this announcement. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
