America has 19,000 cities, towns and villages with different governmental structures, but they all elect officials to carry out three government functions: executive, legislative and legal.
Understanding these roles and their impact is critical to the community.
The new Center for Civic and Community Engagement at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh will host a discussion March 29 about important local issues, local government and why local elections matter, along with a meet and greet of candidates vying for posts in the upcoming April 5 election.
In total, 22 candidates for Oshkosh School Board, City Council, Winnebago County Board and several judicial positions will be available at this free, public event set for 6 p.m. in Reeve Ballroom.
UWO’s Center for Civic and Community Engagement aims to build partnerships between individuals and organizations to address community needs and increase civic engagement.
