This series, featuring archive interviews and dramatic re-enactment, reveals the price these women paid for their achievements, and adversities they overcame to emerge as triumphant, inspirational icons of the 20th century. This documentary examines the life of fashion designer Coco Chanel, who rose from poverty to revolutionize women's styles in the early 20th century. Financed by wealthy lovers, she launched her label during World War I and became a Nazi collaborator to save it during World War II, before staging a career comeback in the 1950s.
