The media has a significant impact on the perception of skin color which can adversely affect self-esteem. On her journey to uncover the reasons why people bleach their skin, filmmaker Dami Akinnusi meets with experts in the field of dermatology, psychiatry and cultural history. As she follows a young woman lightening her skin, she asks why in the 21st century there is still a negative attitude towards darker skin and if growing globalization will make ethnic ambiguity the accepted norm.
