Description
An Island, way out in the North-Atlantic, not far off Iceland, not millions of years old but only 50. A group of researchers have observed this island these fifty years to see how new life developed on it. Surtsey is an island that more or less appeared overnight after an underwater volcano eruption. How did this bare rock turn into a diverse landscape? Which animals and which plants were able to establish themselves? This extraordinary documentary follows the emergence of an island and the development of an ecosystem that is growing with it.
