Bringing The House Down. Theaterland
Description
This eight-part documentary series goes back stage to cover six months in the life of London's Theater Royal Haymarket from all angles, including the arrival of new artistic director Sean Mathias and the lead up to his production of Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot," starring Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart. In the first episode, preparations begin on "Waiting for Godot." As shows begin selling out, we witness rehearsals and the first meeting of four child actors with the two theater and film veterans. Elsewhere in the theater, carpenters Tony and James have to contend with a dressing room ceiling that's about to fall down and do last minute seat repairs. But finally, the curtain goes up on the first preview night.
