Hereford Furniture. The Factory Controller
Description
Lord Digby Jones has risen from his parents' corner shop in Birmingham to the House of Lords by way of some of Britain's most high profile manufacturing companies. In this film, Jones rolls up his sleeves to help secure the future of a medium-sized business, Hereford Furniture. This family owned company makes and sells home furniture but has recently recorded a loss. Are they making the right furniture? Should they change direction? And how do they manage change? For five months under Digby's expert guidance, problems are isolated and tackled, experts are called in and big decisions made, including reducing product range and developing a new brand and design concept. Digby also addresses management communication challenges to improve employee morale and production efficiency. A BBC production.
