Manuel Puig
Description
Argentine novelist and screenwriter, Manuel Puig, talks with host Joaquín Soler Serrano in this 1977 interview for Spanish television about his conflicted youth on the dry pampas of his hometown, General Villegas, his escape into movies and unsuccessful attempts at screenwriting while studying in Rome. Finding at last his authentic voice and characters from that machismo culture, he incorporated elements of cinema and popular culture in his novels, "Betrayed by Rita Hayworth," and the best known fourth novel, "The Kiss of the Spider Woman".
