Northern California's Secession Movement
Description
A handful of counties in Northern California are attempting to accomplish the seemingly impossible - the creation of a new state: The State of Jefferson. Without effective representation at the state level, some rural Californians feel that their lives are dictated by the three major urban areas of the state. Mark Baird, spokesperson of the Jefferson Declaration Committee, and others explain how the State of Jefferson - as a geopolitical area - will represent all the people of Northern rural California and will use the Tenth Amendment to stop Federal intervention that its residents deem negative.
