Description
This episode tells the story of early powered flight, and looks at the groundbreaking men, women and machines who took to the skies in the first half of the 20th century. It includes footage of the Wright brothers at Kitty Hawk; President Theodore Roosevelt becoming the first head of state to fly in an airplane; the German Zeppelins; the R101 disaster; Imperial Airways at Croydon Aerodrome; and Charles Lindbergh's first solo transatlantic flight in the Spirit of St Louis in 1927.
