Introduction. The Effective Teacher
Description
In this classic presentation, award-winning educator, author, and lecturer Harry K. Wong defines what it means to be an efficient and effective teacher. As Dr. Wong discusses, there are four stages of teaching: fantasy, survival, mastery, and impact. All teachers go through the first two stages of fantasy and survival. Some teachers get stuck in the survival stage for the remainder of their careers. Some teachers progress on to the levels of mastery and impact, making a difference in the lives of the students they teach. These teachers are identified as being efficient and effective teachers - they know what to do and they do it well. This program outlines research that identifies the three characteristics of an effective teacher; by choosing to build upon and refine these characteristics, anyone can become an effective teacher?
