Military Targeted for Identity Theft
Description
Although we are now seeing a widespread increase in identity theft, the military has always been a particularly vulnerable target. In this episode of Scammed, we learn the story of a young soldier who returns home to find his identity has been stolen and his credit rating ruined. Despite being able to prove he'd been stationed in Iraq, he cannot shake the bad credit and his life slowly falls apart. Next we explore the new dangers of the Internet and how they can easily lead to identity theft. We then conclude with a case in which a family targeted landlords, using the information from their rental agreements in order to steal their identities.
