Travelers Ian Wright and Zay Harding head out on individual expeditions of New Zealand in this Globe Trekker video. New Zealand is a land of immense natural beauty, with amazing extremes of climate and terrain, from rain forest to reef, and glacier to volcano. Zay explores the Lord of the Rings filming locations, participates in a sheep-shearing contest, attends a Maori ragatta in Ngaruawahia, learns about the art of canoe paddling, plays rugby with the national women's team, travels across the Southern Alps, attends the Hokitka Wild Foods Festival, takes a two-day trek through the forest, and ends up at the serene waters of Milford Sound. Meanwhile, Ian hitches a ride in a 1950s house truck, visits hot springs, and is welcomed into a Maori community where he gets first-hand experience of ancient tribal customs.
