Indonesia - Bali and Sulawesi. Globe Trekker

Description

This Globe Trekker video follows Shilpa Mehta across Bali and Sulawesi, just two islands of the Indonesian archipelago, which stretches from the Asian mainland to Australia. In Bali, Shilpa surfs on Kuta's beaches, receives a massage from Kutas' famous massage ladies, visits the renowned rice fields, learns the art of mask making, climbs a volcano, attends a traditional New Year's festival, and eats at a warung - an Indonesian café - in the artists' village, Ubud. Then she heads to the Muslim populated island of Sulawesi, starting in the capital city of Ujung Pandang, gateway to the Spice Islands, and traveling to Rantepao's noisy market. Shilpa ends her journey in Torajans, taking a two-day trek to a traditional funeral that has taken the family over a year to save up for. She arrives in time for the ceremony's culmination, which involves sacrificing water buffalo and burying the deceased in a cliff face.
