The Brain and Love. Secrets of Your Mind
Description
Can love be defined, measured? How is it made manifest in the brain? Is its impact the same for everyone, neurologically speaking, or are some brains better equipped than others to experience humanity's most profound emotion? This ABC News program investigates, with help from psychologists and neuroscience researchers. Viewers meet a brain-damaged man who has apparently forgotten his love for his wife, and another who is literally paralyzed by amorous feelings - they cause his body to physically shut down. In a third case study, a married couple performs a unique experiment, undergoing neuroimaging tests before and after traveling the world together. What will these brain scans reveal about the enduring power of love?
