Starting a Salon
Description
Realizing his desire to enter the hair care industry at a young age, Gregory Chavez entered cosmetology school and graduated in 1984. Gregory relocated and began working for Paul Mitchell Systems in Los Angeles, California, and this initial experience in the industry prompted him to continue honing his craft in California, Texas, New York, and Connecticut for the better part of 15 years. Gregory now owns the Salon Professional Academy in Colorado Springs, a Redken-sponsored academy, and two J. Gregory Salon locations. In this program, Gregory discusses why education is key to success in the salon industry; why you should open with a good foundation of clientele already established; how to double the income of each chair; ways to differentiate your business from other salons; how to empower your employees; which products you should carry; how to get more from your distributorship; and more.
