Addressing a variety of methods for working with preschool-age patients, this program discusses the characteristics of the post-toddler developmental stage, including physiological characteristics and appropriate forms of nursing care. Viewers learn about psychosocial and cultural differences while discovering ways of working with the patient's family members on difficult issues. The video also focuses on methods of non-traumatic physical assessment and care techniques for preschoolers. Following a screening of the video, learners should be able to describe characteristic traits of preschoolers and the standard recommended forms of care appropriate to this challenging developmental phase.
