Neonates and Infants. Age-Specific Care

Description

Some people think of them as blank slates or empty vessels, but infants are unique individuals with feelings, thoughts, needs, and dislikes. This program helps health care trainees become better acquainted with the special requirements of neonatal and infant care. In addition to the basics of holding and handling an infant, as well as the need to reassure anxious first-time parents, viewers are encouraged to develop an awareness of and familiarity with the following topics: body weight, reflexes, blood glucose levels, vision, growth charts, home safety, SIDS, motor skills, crying and communication, early mobility (rolling and crawling), colic, teething, stranger anxiety, and the importance of physical bonding between parent and child. A part of the series Age-Specific Care: A Guide for Health Care Professionals.
