Cavalry Division, they transitioned to armored carriers, amphibious vessels, and became airborne paratroopers in today's Army. Today, the Honor Guard and the word cavalry call to mind a warm glow of nostalgia and distinction for a group whose historic role in the defense of the country is one of the Army's most illustrious chapters.
