Description
This program examines how mining and industrial expansion changed the West forever, while land rushes and assimilation efforts prolonged the tragedy for Native Americans. Through primary resource materials, viewers explore the West's promise of a better life and learn about a religious movement called the Ghost Dance that swept through dispirited Indian reservations and culminated in the tragedy at Wounded Knee.
