Scott spent much of his younger years touring the country with his lawyer father, becoming fascinated with Scottish culture, landscape, architecture, and people, and eventually going to school for law himself. After law school, however, he spent most of his life writing, with much success, touring Scotland, and building his home in the Scottish countryside. He became a popular figure of the Scottish spirit.
