Improving Communication with the Visually and Hearing Impaired
Description
For the resident of a long-term care facility, a visual or hearing deficit presents more than a simple communication problem-it interferes with the cherished activities of daily living and self-expression. This program assists caregivers with practical ways to improve communication and help clients stay as productive and independent as possible. Viewers learn to identify the main components of effective communication, recognize age-related hearing and speech problems, understand the challenges related to cataracts and glaucoma, put safety measures in place, and develop effective communication techniques for use with the visually and aurally impaired.
