Leisure and Sport
Description
Seaside resorts are becoming fashionable in China, creating more instances in which recreational activities are a subject of conversation. Designed to help beginning Chinese speakers and Western tourists keep up in such exchanges, this program focuses on vocabulary and phrases integral to booking a hotel room, renting a boat or bicycle, discussing favorite sports and leisure pursuits, and more. Cultural topics include: the history and atmosphere of Beidaihe, a beach resort on China's east coast, and the significance of traditional Chinese sporting and recreational pastimes - from martial arts to walking the Great Wall.
