Drinking and Socializing
Description
Anyone with any sense knows the pitfalls of too much alcohol or caffeine, but most of us also realize that certain beverages can help spur a conversation along. And what if that conversation is taking place among native Chinese speakers while a beginner is trying to break in? This program provides clues about how that might play out, showing how to order drinks, Chinese-style, as it ventures into Beijing's burgeoning tea-houses, bars, and cafes. Viewers also receive tips on how to request certain snack foods as well as how to describe other tastes and preferences and say "Please" and "Thank you.
