Modern Marvels. Pacific Coast Highway
Description
For twenty-five years, highway construction crews dug, blasted, tunneled and bridged their way up the west coast of America to create one of the great roads of the world. The Pacific Coast Highway runs along the shores of three states. It is a monumental story of perseverance, primal machines, convict labor, and engineering brilliance. Keeping it up and running quickly became a saga filled with floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, and deadly landslides. The scenic road's battle with mother nature continues today.
