Megacity Diaries. Mumbai
Description
Shanghai is often held up as a model of what Mumbai could be-a city that has parlayed its historical and geopolitical significance into a hub of global business and culture. But according to the experts in this unique video exploration, "Vision Mumbai" isn't a realistic goal-not yet, at least. First, the city has to deal with basics like housing, sanitation, and schools, all of which remain unavailable to millions of residents. Director Giorgio de Finis combines street-level camera work with thoughtful interviews and his own eloquent commentary to reveal Mumbai's challenges as well as its potential. Journalist Kalpana Sharma, activist Joachim Arputham, architect Charles Correa, and other guests explore poverty, land use, media images, and more.
