Geographers in the Field
Description
Fieldwork is a critical part of geography, and it involves a range of techniques. In this program, two teenage geography "commandos" are on a mission to research and report on the human impact in two geographical regions-one urban, and one within a national park. Along the way they learn about preparation, collecting primary and secondary data on both human and physical geography, equipment, note-taking, photographic recording, surveying and interviewing, and presenting findings. The geographers also talk with park rangers who work in urban as well as natural areas and ultimately come to understand the importance of accurate, well-prepared fieldwork.
