Bill Moyers Journal. Big Money in Politics / Medicare for All?
Description
In this edition of the Journal, Bill Moyers sits down with libertarian journalist Nick Gillespie and legal scholar Lawrence Lessig to discuss corporate financing of political campaigns in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s controversial ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. Moyers then speaks with pediatrician Margaret Flowers of Physicians for a National Health Program about President Obama’s stymied health care reform initiative and her protests on behalf of change—which resulted in her arrest while trying to get a Medicare-for-all plan back on the table. An essay on the hypocrisy displayed by Republicans and Democrats alike at high-level political retreats where the influence of moneyed interests dominated rounds out the program.
