Germans Celebrate the Fall of the Berlin Wall ca. 1989
Description
Following the reform policy of Soviet premier Mikhail Gorbachev, Soviet-controlled areas throughout Eastern Europe began to transition away from communism. Nowhere was this transition more evident than in Germany when the Berlin Wall - once a potent symbol of the cold war - fell in 1989. The Soviet Union agreed to the reunification of Germany the following year. Copyright The WPA Film Library.
