Description
Emmeline Pankhurst founded the Women's Social and Political Union in 1903 to advocate women's suffrage in Great Britain. She engaged in militant tactics - including hunger strikes - to advance her cause and was arrested many times. Pankhurst died in 1928, shortly after women in the United Kingdom were granted full suffrage.
