Description
During the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, eight activists who became known as the "Chicago Eight" led a week-long protest. After 5,000 protestors converged on the city, Chicago mayor Richard Daley dispatched an armored police force to disperse the demonstrations. At a press conference, David Dellinger, a member of the Chicago Eight, compared the mayor's actions to political suppression in the Soviet Union.
