Description
The Cotton Club was an exclusive music venue in New York City's Harlem neighborhood during the 1930s. Although most of the musicians employed by the club were African American, African Americans were not allowed to visit the club as customers. Duke Ellington became famous during the years he spent playing at the Cotton Club.
