The Road to nowhere. Yugoslavia
Description
They might be described as a throwback to the Middle Ages, but this current crop of warlords constitute the big figures of the new world order. This program examines these people, whose power derives from the barrel of a gun, and the rhetoric with which they justify themselves and motivate one another: the rhetoric of nationalism. The story of Yugoslavia is the story of the country's first highway, the Highway of Brotherhood and Unity; today it is a symbol of everything that has gone wrong in the country, a road impassable for both Serb and Croat-a road to nowhere.
