When a merger fails. Demerging and receivership
Description
This program, the final act in the Buzzle drama, details the gritty realities of demerging and receivership. Out of cash, credit, and time, the principals scramble to save their original businesses by demerging. But Apple, standing to lose millions and finally out of patience, pushes them into receivership. Employee reactions ranging from frustration to fatalism starkly illustrate the trickle-down effect of board member decisions as the highly vulnerable former directors go through settlement proceedings that leave them poorer but wiser. Today, Buzzle has a new value: for entrepreneurs and students of business, it is a highly instructive example of what not to do and when not to do it.
