Serge Poliakoff—The Greatest Painters of the World
Description
Serge Poliakoff was born in Moscow, but spent most of his life in Paris. He started off as a musician, while studying painting intensely at the same time. Poliakoff’s early works offer traditional academic themes and depict nudes, houses and trees. He later discovers abstraction, and begins to explore color as color. Developing a distinctive form of abstract painting that juxtaposes diverse surfaces of color, his last works reduce his lively polychromy to ochre and monochrome creations.
