My Southeast Asia. Episode 1

Description

We travel to Yangon in Mynamar where Dr. Farish visits the Chulia Mosque and then on to Singapore to see his collection of antique maps of Asia and hear a short history of Southeast Asia. Later we travel to the Highlands of West Sumatra in Indonesia to discover a new archaeological find: what is believed to be a Hindu or Buddhist temple from the 12th century. In Batusangkar, West Sumatra, we look at a collection of artifacts from China and Persia and recent digs. In our last stop, we arrive in Kelantan, Malaysia, and cross the Golok River into Thailand as Dr. Farish discusses the tensions between the two countries.
