Morocco. Talam
Description
Morocco is a mirror of many different cultures: Berber, African, Arab, and Andalusian. Its culture is echoed in its geography, as kaleidoscopic as the history of its people. In the Atlas Mountains, a vibrant musical folklore has been preserved by the Berbers. In the Middle Atlas, the collective popular dance is the "ahidus," of which the greatest interpreter and poet is an old man known as the “Maestro” whose complex and delicate gestures anticipate the beat of the drums. Today, the relationship between tradition and modernity is the focus of musical debate in Morocco, and it is especially so in the great metropolis of Casablanca.
