Bioindicator Mice
Description
Pollution and the destruction of the environment are two main concerns in our times. Wood mice fulfill all the conditions that make them excellent bioindicators. The mice try to survive in the unfavorable environment by increasing the expression of protective proteins that, for example, are able to reduce the toxic effects and even prevent and repair oxidative damage. At the same time, they reduce the expression of harmful proteins that facilitate the appearance and spreading of tumors. The information that these scientists have been able to collect is unprecedented in environmental research anywhere in the world and opens a new and exciting field of research.
