The Secret Mecca
Description
The pilgrimage to Mecca, one of the five tenets of Islam, attracts three million worshippers to that holy site annually. This program traces the progress of a group of pilgrims privileged to follow in the footsteps of God's prophet, Mohammed. Sharing their beliefs, their feelings, and a strong sense of camaraderie, they spend 15 days traveling from Jedda, their entryway into Saudi Arabia, to Medina, Mecca, Mount Arafat, and Mina. A thorough background on Mohammed and his teachings is provided as well. The program is a valuable source of firsthand information, offering a behind-the-scenes visit to a sacred Muslim shrine that is not open to tourists.
