Description
This program focuses on young, innovative American composers who learned from the music of the past, and from the music of other cultures. Jazz, military bands, Quaker hymns, country dances, German Expressionism, and minimalism all contribute to a dazzling display of energy and virtuosity in the music presented. Works by Gershwin, Copland, Bernstein, Ives, Cage, and others are included.
