The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. Staging a show on The NewsHour
Description
NewsHour correspondents report on a variety of notable theater productions, including opera versions of Arthur Miller's "A View from the Bridge," F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby," and Toni Morrison's "Beloved." Also, two plays based on news events are examined: transcripts of cockpit voice recordings provided the basis for "Charlie Victor Romeo," a play about aircraft emergencies; and "The People's Temple" is a play about the Jonestown Massacre, based on diaries and the recollections of survivors. Shakespeare is the subject of two more reports: a look at the re-creation of the Globe Theatre in London and a report written in iambic pentameter about a Shakespeare street festival in Denver. Also included is a profile of the Tony Award winning Children's Theatre Company of Minneapolis. This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media.
